Zero Extinctions
We Protect Turtles
Turtles are ancient, awe-inspiring creatures that are essential to our ecosystems. But they face mounting threats worldwide.
We ensure their continued survival.
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Turtles have lived on our planet for 260 million years.
As ancient as dinosaurs, today’s turtles are the products of an elegant evolution that precedes mammals and birds. They are as wildly diverse as the habitats they call home—from sun-dappled forest floors to desert-cut canyons. They are ecosystem engineers essential to our soils, waters, and flora.
But around the world, turtles are in trouble. More than half of the 476 living types of freshwater turtles, tortoises, sea turtles, and terrapins are threatened with extinction.
