TSA Announces New Partnership to Benefit Endangered Freshwater Turtles of Thailand
|
The TSA has engaged in a new partnership with Chuck Landrey of A Taste of Thai company, a major distributor of Thai food products. Through their Taste of Thai web site (click on the Batagur at bottom of their page) they are selling a special Thai turtle T- shirt, the proceeds of which will be directed to support TSA’s work in Thailand.

One of the primary focal points will the softshell turtle facility at Kanchanaburi, a major breeding center for the Critically Endangered Siamese narrow headed softshell turtle, Chitra chitra. Through our Batchelor Foundation grant this year we are just getting started there, and after two reconnaissance trips in 2005, we have identified a course of action to help address some of the husbandry challenges at that facility. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.

In the coming year we also plan to become more involved with the Inland Fisheries facility at Satun, home of a major Batagur and Callagur breeding operation. See photos on their web site. In the meantime help support Thailand’s turtles and eat more Taste of Thai food.
