2008
Beneficia Foundation
The Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) is pleased to announce a $25,000 grant from the Beneficia Foundation to support their Chambal River-based Indian turtle conservation program. This is the second year that Beneficia has supported the India project. The Indian Turtle Conservation Program is a joint initiative spearheaded by the TSA in partnership with the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and the Zoological Society of San Diego.
British Chelonia Group
We announced earlier this year that the British Chelonia Group (BCG) intended to include a $10,000 component in their annual fund-raising drive for the TSA.
TSA Receives DWCF Award
The DWCF recently announced a $17,900 grant to the Turtle Survival Alliance for their Indian Turtle Conservation Program. TSA’s India program is a joint initiative spearheaded by the TSA in partnership with the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust/Center for Herpetology (MCBT/CFH) and the Zoological Society of San Diego’s Conservation and Research for Endangered Speciesí (CRES) center.
The flagship species for this program is the critically endangered red crowned roof turtle, Batagur (Kachuga) kachuga. With less than 500 adult females remaining in the wild, there is an urgent need to implement conservation measures to prevent its extinction.
2007
The British Chelonia Group and Nature’s Own
The Turtle Survival Alliance is pleased to announce two recent grants from The British Chelonia Group and Roy Young and Rosa Venezia, Nature’s Own in Boulder, Colorado. The grants total $40,000 to support conservation programs in India ($20,000), Myanmar ($5,000) and Madagascar ($15,000).
2006
TSA Receives Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund (DWCF) Award
The IUCN Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) has been selected by the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund (DWCF) for a $19,000 award for its work with endangered turtles. Specifically, the DWCF funds will go toward community-based environmental education for turtle conservation in coastal Cambodia.
